Neptune Awards Decommissioning Contract to Maersk Supply Service – Egypt Oil & Gas

Neptune Energy announced that it has awarded Maersk Supply Service (MSS) a decommissioning contract to deploy innovative technology for the Juliet field in the UK Southern North Sea.

The deployment is expected to reduce the time and costs associated with the subsea infrastructure’s removal. The removal of piping spools and umbilicals will be done using the Utility ROV Services system (UTROV), a remotely-operated tool carrier fit with multiple attachments to help recover subsea equipment.

Commenting on the agreement, Neptune Energy’s UK Managing Director Alexandra Thomas said, “The use of such innovative technologies is enabling operators to reduce the time, costs and environmental impacts associated with such operations, and ensures the safe and efficient removal of decommissioned subsea infrastructure.”

Additionally, Maersk Supply Service’s Head of Integrated Solutions Olivier Trouvé said, “We are looking forward to mobilizing our engineering capabilities and specialized assets to provide safe and efficient operations.”

It should be noted that decommissioning work at the Juliet subsea assets, which were installed in 2013, will be executed in early 2022.
