January transfers that should happen including Arsenal U-turn & Man Utd swoop

After dispensing with the services of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last month, Manchester United could be one of the busier sides in the Premier League when the transfer window reopens in a fortnight’s time.

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick is only due to be in the dugout until the end of the season, but he is likely to have a say in transfer dealings given he’s already agreed a further two-year consultancy role once his stint in charge is over.

United were one of the biggest spenders in England last summer.

But wrapping up mega-money deals for Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo, United have been well off the pace at the top of the league.

Rangnick will be keen to amend that in January, so Mirror Football takes a look at all of the latest transfer news from Old Trafford…

United could face a fight to hang on to Marcus Rashford following reports of interest in the Englishman from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Rashford, who has been hampered by injuries this term, would reportedly consider a move abroad according to a new report from EFE via Mundo Deportivo.

United’s bloated rank of attacking talent means competition for a spot in Rangnick’s new-look side is fierce.

That situation, along with the fact Ronaldo is seemingly untouchable, has already irked Mason Greenwood, who has also been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this week.

And it now seems that Rashford could be the latest United striker to seek a move in the near future.

The 24-year-old has netted three goals in 12 appearances for United this season.

Ex-United target on the move

Barcelona are reportedly open to selling Manchester United target Frenkie De Jong next summer

Manchester United have been given a transfer boost with reports indicating that former target Frenkie de Jong could be on the move next summer.

United have been credited with an interest in the Barcelona midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.

Although a deal looks unlikely next month, Marca are reporting that Barca could be persuaded to part company with the Dutchman next summer.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest in the 24-year-old, who has scored once and laid on two assists during his 19 appearances so far this term.

Interest grows in Greenwood

Barcelona are one of the clubs interested in Mason Greenwood

As well as registering an interest in Rashford, Barcelona have also reportedly joined the queue to strike a deal for Greenwood.

Greenwood’s unhappiness in Manchester was outlined earlier this week.

And Fichajes are now reporting that Barcelona, along with Arsenal and Juventus, are ready to test United’s resolve by making a move for Greenwood.

The United academy graduate was in red-hot form before Ronaldo’s arrival at the end of the summer transfer window. But his minutes have dropped since the Portuguese superstars return.

Given Barcelona’s troublesome finances, it remains to be seen if they’d actually be able to strike a deal for Greenwood – but that hasn’t deterred them from taking an interest in his situation.
