Tommy Fury addresses pulling out of Jake Paul fight

Jake Paul has said he would fight WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury if he makes the massive 35kg drop down to cruiserweight.

Fury last weighed in for his Deontay Wilder trilogy in October at 277.5lbs and would be able to weigh a maximum of 200lbs to fight at cruiserweight.

The 6’9 giant – who has fought at heavyweight for his entire professional career – used his size advantage against Wilder to wear the American down and score the 11th round knockout.

Fury traded words with Paul whilst taking part in the pre-fight press conference for his brother’s, Tommy Fury, clash against the internet star.

But the fight was cancelled when Tommy withdrew on Monday due to a broken rib and bacterial infection.

And whilst reacting to news of withdrawal, Paul said he would Tyson, Tommy and their father John.

“I would fight the whole family. If Tyson moved down to cruiserweight I would fight Tyson no problem,” he told talkSPORT.

Tyson was helping his younger brother prepare for his upcoming fight against Paul before he pulled out.

Paul believes a drill in which Tyson was slamming a medicine ball on his brother’s abdominals could have caused the Brit to sustain a broken rib.

“I have seen the footage and who knows it is very possible,” he told the MMA Hour when asked if the drill could have caused Fury’s injury.

“It is very possible that could break a rib for sure, when I do that drill we take precautions and are careful because you hear stories of fighters getting injured while trying to work on their abs.

“Who knows what happened but all of it seems very shady.”

Former UFC champion Tyron Woodley – who Paul outpointed in August – has since taken Fury’s place on the December 18 card in Tampa, Florida.

The internet star has even offered Woodley an additional $500,000 on top of his fight purse if he can win the fight by knockout.

Paul’s manager and co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, Nakisa Bidarian, claimed Woodley was already training for a fight when he got the call-up.

Just days before news of Fury’s withdrawal broke, Tyson claimed his brother could beat Paul even whilst suffering from numerous injuries, one of which was a broken rib.

“Tommy could have his worst night ever and still beat Jake Paul,” he said.

“He could probably turn up with broken ribs, a broken left hand, two left feet, his clothes on back to front and a flue and he would still beat him.

“That is how confident I am that he can beat Jake Paul.”
