The Stamford Bridge outfit are said to be interested in bringing Eden Hazard back to the club – but another transfer deal may now get in the way of that happening
Eden Hazard’s return to Chelsea could be off, according to the latest reports.
The Belgian star has become a peripheral figure at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and recent reports have linked him with a move away from Spain when next month’s January transfer window opens.
His departure would surely free up a bit of space on the Real Madrid wage bill after the winger was targeted as a Galactico signing when he joined the club in 2019, but the move could now be “off”.
Chelsea have also been linked with a full-back from a Premier League rival and could target a reunion for Romelu Lukaku with a player he’s enjoyed great success with in the past.
Here are all the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.
Hazard return “off”
Real Madrid are said to have “angered” Blues owner Roman Abramovich with their pursuit of Antonio Rudiger – and that may make him more “forceful” in the negotiations for Eden Hazard, it is reported.
According to El Nacional, Madrid’s interest in Rudiger could lead the Russian oligarch to drive the price down for the former Chelsea man, or walk away from negotiations completely.
West Ham are said to have had a £21m bid for Hazard rejected recently, although Abramovich is said to not be willing to meet Madrid’s asking price, which is around double that figure.
The winger has also been linked with a host of other clubs, including newly-rich Newcaslte United, so his return to Stamford Bridge could be off completely.
Chelsea are one of three teams in the race to sign Everton’s Lucas Digne, according to reports.
Digne has been linked with a move away from the Toffees after reportedly falling out with manager Rafael Benitez and Chelsea are said to be interested in the player.
According to Fichajes, they will have to fend off interest from Atletico Madrid and Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma to land the player’s signature.
Digne could be available in the upcoming January transfer window, the report adds.
Lukaku reunion eyed
Chelsea want to pair star forward Romelu Lukaku with his former Inter Milan strike partner Lautaro Martinez, it has been reported.
The pair fired the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title last season with Fichajes reporting that Chelsea are aware of how the two forwards “compliment” each other.
The Inter Milan forward is said to be an alternate option for the Blues should they fail to land top target Erling Haaland, it is claimed.
But should the Blues move for the Argentine forward, they may need to shift fellow striker Timo Werner, the report adds.
